Hello,
I am new at using a MAC but the ability to use MAC software and
Unix software at the same time has won me over. However, two of us here
have had a terrible problem with Fink - it crashed and corrupted our
machines so completely that we have had to reinstall OS-X from the
installation CDs.
Here is what happened:
1) Dowloaded the Fink binary from 0.4.1 and tried to install it.
Now I realize that this is the wrong thing to do for 10.2 but I am pretty
sure it worked okay when I did this yesterday for the first time.
In any case, after I ran the install, I couldn't even do basic commands
like ls and cd in a terminal. I got errors saying "/bin/ls: Permission
Denied". I couldn't open anything on the Desktop - in fact, when I
clicked on something it disappeared. I could not change directories.
When I rebooted the machine, it came up with the MAC version of a blue
screen of death - how disappointing.
Now cvs does not automatically work for me. So I am at a loss on how to
use Fink for my 10.2 MAC-OS.
Thanks for your help.
