The last word that I saw on the subject is that it's a problem with some
of the TeX files in doxygen itself and newer versions of teteX,
including Wierda's (i.e. system-tetex):

The package maintainer has contacted the upstream doxygen developers.

In the interim, I have posted a deb file.

http://web.mit.edu/akhansen/www/doxygen_1.2.18-2_darwin-powerpc.deb

(doxygen's license is GPL, so I assume this is OK).

Being a beginner, how would one go about making use of this particular .deb file? Is it just good enough to place it in /sw/var/cache/apt/archives? How would fink know the file is there? Would it have to be placed in the correct /sw/fink/10.2/blahblahblah location?

Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
