I hope this is an easy question, as I can't find anything about it on the
docs or FAQs (not that it isn't there).

I have successfully run the update to include the CVS information in Fink
(and by extension, Fink Commander) so that I can install some of the
unstable scientific packages. However, what fink lists as the available
package is not necessarily the latest (which I understand can be a common
problem).

However, during the CVS update, I noticed that the .info and .patch files
were being loaded into both a 10.2/ directory and a 10.1/ directory. I
assume this is in reference to the Mac OS X operating version. So, for
example, a package called xdrawchem is listed as version 1.6.4-1 in the
/sw/fink/10.2/unstable/main/finkinfo/sci directory, while it is version
1.3.2-1 in the /sw/fink/10.1/unstable/main/finkinfo/sci directory.

A look at the website for xdrawchem however lists no OS X 10.2 version
requirements for this program, so if indeed Fink is separating out 10.1 and
10.2 but it's not a valid separation, what do I need to do to install the
latest?

I've tried downloading the latest from the web site itself and running "fink
install xdrawchem-1.6.4-1" but it says that the package doesn't exist. I've
also read that you can manually download the .info and .package files, but
for several programs I can't find them. Can I just copy over the .info and
.patch files from the 10.2 directory?

Sorry if this is long winded--just trying to figure things out.

Thanks for any help.
