Alexander, It appears that I have 1.4 currently installed. I've noticed that when I do open Gnome via a terminal window, I get a message that I have a non-compliant WM running, even though sawfish is installed. In fact, I can't activate sawfish in the Gnome control center, even though it's obviously there.

If it's 2.z, then the problem looks to be the fact that "gnome-session" doesn't invoke a window manager automatically the way it did in GNOME 1.x On Mon, 2003-06-23 at 07:45, Francis Maier wrote: > Thanks, Kip, but still no-go.
