Could you send the output of the following commands: In a terminal winfow, type: echo $PATH cat ~/.xinitrc
How about trying the following command: xterm -geometry 80x40+0+0
Just trying to get some more information that could be useful...
If you only downloaded Openoffice (partially), that cannot have anything to do with your problem. Don't trash your X11 yet! One other thing I can think of: try selecting some different screen resolutions in the OSX System Preferences, see if that moves the windows back where they belong...

I installed X11 from the Apple site (user and SDK) and Fink from the site. I have been able to download Siag, Gimp, Abiword and installed them and they function. I downloaded bundle-kde and no KDE app will open. I also started to download OpenOffice but quit the download due to the file size. X11 has not acted the same since. When I can open X11 and then Terminal, the window bar is up and behind the Finder menu bar (I think), windows will not minimize and the Terminal window is not in Aqua. I can only type in the Terminal (from X11, OSX Terminal is fine) by hitting return until the text comes from behind the Finder menu bar. I've reinstalled X11. Should I install from Fink and trash X11? I'm ready to give up Unix altogether!
