Yes, with qt3 3.2.2-12 on Panther KDE dows start up now. Thanks!
Now the next problem ;-)
Some widgets don't seem to work quite right. The behavior i see in KDE is that I can't activate a window or panel by doing
a click with the left mouse button.
I first thought that this is a problem related to the left mouse button. But the mouse seems to work once
the window is activated. E.g. when I do Command-Mouse down I do see a menu panel popping up
and I can select an item on this pop up menu.
Alt-Mouse down and Command-Mouse down work fine.
I am on a Powerbook G4 17". In case that makes a difference for the widget implementation/mouse behavior.
And I do have installed MacGimp...

I guess you could see if you can remove freetype2 and freetype2-shlibs.
It's got nothing to do with freetype2, KDE links against x11's freetype because of conflicts.
The problem is that XFree86 4.3.x's libfreetype is missing some symbols that were in 4.2.x's because of a backwards-compatibility bug.
It should be fixed if you rebuild qt3... If you're running unstable, just do a "fink selfupdate" and then "fink install qt3"; if you're running stable you should wait an hour or two for the mirrors to sync and then update, or copy the qt3 3.2.2-2 info file from unstable to your local tree and upgrade.
