If you don't have too much installed, the course of action that Gary suggested--clearing Fink and X11 out, reinstalling Apple X11, then Fink--is probably the best way to go. It guarantees that X11 is intact and Fink isn't confused.

Damn! Better remove it again then....
What would you recommend me to do - reinstall the mac x11 pkgs or install
some of the other pkgs from FINK?
Im getting evermore confused... :-S

Actually, you've just made your situation worse. The package you
installed, xfree86-base-threaded (or xfree86-base-threaded-shlibs,
possibly), doesn't work on Panther (and in my opinion should be pulled
from the available package list--this was copied from 10.2-gcc3), and
you've now got some horrible hodgepodge of XFree86 and Apple's X11,
unless you removed the latter first.

Hi again..

Sorry for bothering you all again, but...
Well, it seems the x11-recognition problem was solved by installing
fink's
xfree86-base-th instead of mac's x11, but...

Only package I managed to install afterwards was tcltk, and after
installing it won't run the 'wish' command...

But, what bothers me more, I didn't succeed installing neither tetex
nor
texmacs or gv.... the typical final response i something like this...:

'ld: warning prebinding disabled because dependent library:
/sw/lib/libjpeg.62.dylib is not prebound
ld: Undefined symbols:
_IceConnectionNumber
_IceProcessMessages
_SmcClientID
_SmcCloseConnection
_SmcDeleteProperties
_SmcGetIceConnection
_SmcInteractDone
_SmcInteractRequest
_SmcModifyCallbacks
_SmcOpenConnection
_SmcRequestSaveYourselfPhase2
_SmcSaveYourselfDone
_SmcSetProperties
make: *** [bin/gs] Error 1
### execution of failed, exit code 2
Failed: compiling ghostscript-8.00-3 failed'

Anybody got an idea what my problem here is...? With the wish command
too...

I,m running 10.3 on an iBook G4

Best regards,

Thoeger
