able to install the source?

Yes you should but as I said if you want to install a
package from
source that is not in the currently supported tree it
is not that
trivial and installing it via source from say the
"origin" homepage
also isn't that trivial.

Best would be if you can get kile via "sudo apt-get
install kile"

If this doesn't work you can try it this way.

Before do please install the latest avaible Xcode
Tools and do a
backup of important datas.

Go to
<http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/fink/dists/10.2-gcc3.3/unstable/main/finkinfo/text/>
and download the kile-1.5.2-11-info file. To do so
klick on the
link named kile-1.5.2-11.info. A new page opens and
there you will
find a download link behind Revision 1.2. Right click
and "Save
Target as" or "Download Link Target" or whatever it is
called in
the browser you are using.

You now should have a file called kile-1.5.2-11.info
in your
download location.

Now open terminal.app and go to the directory
/sw/fink/10.3/local/main/finkinfo. Check with pwd if
you are in the
right place before doing the next steps. If you are in
the wrong
place you can totally mess up your fink.

Now type "sudo mkdir text". A new directory called
text will be
created.
cd text
copy the info file with "sudo cp /path to the
file/kile-1.5.2-11.info ." This will copy the info
file in the just
created directory
repeat cd.. until you are back at /sw
Type fink index
Fink will reindex your package descriptions
Type fink list kile and see if fink lists up kile. It
should if you
did everything as described above.
Finally type "fink install kile". Fink now should tell
you that it
will go to install kile and if necessary what depency
files are
needed too and that it will install and if necessary
compile them
too. I donnot know what kile depends on neither what
you have
installed so this may take a few hours or so depending
on your
processor power too.

The above is without warranty and you do everythink at
your own
risk. I will not take any response if you loose data
or mess up
your fink. So backup important files before you try to
install
kile.

HTH

Regards,

Eric Hoch

well, it is worth a try no? these are the
dependencies:

The following 8 additional packages will be installed:
 doxygen graphviz kdebase3-dev kdelibs3-dev
openslp-ssl-dev tcltk xfree86
 xfree86-shlibs

will the xfree packages not conflict with the apple
x11?

thanks again for all the help!
