I am assuming my attempt at the script worked. I pasted the script into BBEdit and saved the file as ":fink-x11-debug" and ran "perl fink-x11-debug" from root. It paused a moment then returned the prompt to me but when I run fink install GTK+2 it chokes on the XFree86 install part.
This script doesn't change or fix anything on your system. It just reports what it finds in order to debug your setup. Have you looked at http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-packages.php?phpLang=en#apple- x11-wants-xfree86? I suspect that you are missing the X11SDK install from Apple's Developer CDs (Xtools).
