sudo apt-get install xfree86
(i.e. use binaries)
What do you mean by "crap", by the way? Installing a current version of Fink and Apple's X11 should give you what you need to work from binaries: the system-xfree86 and system-xfree86-shlibs virtual packages. Is something going wrong with this?

I just did a clean install of Mac OS 10.3.3. I have installed Apple's X11 but am unhappy with the amount of crap I have to do to get working with fink, how can I uninstall it and install Fink's X11 without gcc 3.3, I tried to dl Xtools from ADC but everytime the file is bad can't file one of the many parts it's needs.
