Yes, very much so. I did everything the F.A.Q said to do and X11 would shut
down for no reason or won't start. If I remove anything that pointed to
fink, Apples' X11 would great. But I couldn't get fink apps to work with it.
No offense, but it tiring to read FAQ and try to get something to work. The
beauty Mac OS has always been that you take it all of the package and it
works. That why a long time ago I sent e-mail to this group that I really
fell fink isn't ready for prime time. Because there are so many little
things you have to do to get things running and you have to have development
tools to install and run programs, I am not a programmer, I am sys. Admin.

Don't get me wrong, just when you lose two days trying to get tools working
for you job you tend to get a little bitter. I was hoping that Apple's X11
would be a cool thing to use, so I installed, had I know that it would have
been better to use fink one, then I would have install it.

I need finks work, because it saves me for reboot into ppc linux or wasting
memory running VPC.

Other than that Fink is great. My own think that you can add to the wish
list is, again it would be great that ALL apps run out of the box with out
development tools so avg. joes can use with out going crazy.

without GCC3.3

sudo rm -rf /etc/X11 /usr/X11R6

sudo apt-get install xfree86

What do you mean by "crap", by the way? Installing a current version of
Fink and Apple's X11 should give you what you need to work from
binaries: the system-xfree86 and system-xfree86-shlibs virtual packages.
Is something going wrong with this?
