P.S. I want to be clear that I am a professional project manager and have a
serious need for planning tools. As I previously stated, I currently use MS
Project and if I didn't care about the MS monopoly and the whole philosophy
of open sourcce I would just keep on using it. I am, however, compelled to
pursue the enjoyment of building, to a very small degree, my own software and
try to move the concept forward in anyway that I can. The feeling I get from
using software successfully installed via fink is much better than that from
writing a check for $350. I feel as if I know many members on the list and I
can only say that if this sort of project is possible through little more
than intentions then perhaps there is hope for the world. I'd like to think
so.
Thanks again,
Brian

I want to say that I am not trying to create any problems here. I understand
that following someone's instructions, especially in the open source world,
means that advice is exactly worth what one pays for it. Having said that, I
also thought that we are all trying to help and there have been any number of
times that I have screwed up with fink, sometimes catastrophically and only
the help of all the great people on the list has gotten me back on track. The
fact that Planner is not available through fink and that some packages that
would help compile it are seriously outdated is completely out of my control.
But my desire to use open source led me to fink, and darwinports and other
projects to port to mac and I'll continue to explore all avenues, picking the
best of the best with my limited knowledge. I have never assumed that anyone
on this list was obligated to help me in my fumblings but I bless each and
every time someone does. Thanks to all of the great maintainers, et. al.
