I was able to get kstars running when I first installed it years ago. You
could install bundle-kde and get everything that it may depend upon as that
could be a problem. I also got the dcop error even when trying to run kde
(go to kde.com if you don't know what kde is) as a window manager. I solved
that by opening a Mac terminal window and typing in 'dcopserver' which got it
running and then started any kde package that I wanted or the entire kde
window manager. KDE 3.4 has no such problem for me and works great, mostly.
You could try that. and yes, kde and Oroborosx do not like each other at all
and will not present a functional display. I'd install icewm from fink and
use that as my x window manager if you don't want the entire kde bundle (it's
very large and has tons of stuff from office to games to just about
everything).
So, to recap, try the dcopserver command in a mac terminal shell and then try
kstars, but again oroborosx won't work.
good luck,
Brian
