Hello,
I'm an absolute beginner with FINK, so I'll be grateful to you if you
give me some advice about it.
For example: when I didn't know anything about FINK, I installed the
Gimp port to Mac OS X, along Apple X11, in my Mac mini PPC G4 OS X
10.4 Tiger, and, also NeoOffice, which is a port of OpenOffice to Mac
OS X. Both of them work fine.
Now I wanted to install Scribus, so, I asked for information at
Scribus mailing list and somebody told me that he built Scribus on
his Mac by means of FINK.
This was the first time I met FINK.
So, if I want to install Unix Open Source software I can install and
use it.
I noticed there is a lot of installable packages and wanted to know
which of them are useful to complete the good set of applications
which came along with my Mac mini, just to obtain a very complete
Desktop.
In addition: If I start using FINK am I supposed to uninstall the
previously installed Gimp, NeoOffice and Apple X11 and install them
again by means of FINK ?
