My dad used to say that he had given up on earning his first million and had started on his second, and third, and so on.
Maybe that's sort of what I want to do with X11, but nevertheless, I want to start over. Here's a brief explanation. Although I have occasionally benefited from having installed a Fink-managed implementation of X11, the fact is that I don't have any mission critical work that requires it, and I only use it occasionally. I'm probably a Fink Beginners lifer. That said, part of the reason for this circumstance is that I continually encounter irritating problems with my installation of X11 that can each seemingly only be solved by spending vast amounts of time doing research. So, having little to lose, I want to start over in hopes that a new installation of the latest releases of all the solutions with which I'm familiar might get me to a higher level than I might hope to attain by attempting repairs. Last time I started over, I simply installed Fink on a new Mac. This time I'd like to just remove Fink and all other X11 entities that I 've installed on that same Mac and start again. Can I accomplish the removal simply by following the instructions in the FAQ - Q5.6? What else do I need to know? Thanks.
