But you said that you're missing "x11", not "x11-dev". Is that indeed the case? Did you install the X11User package from the OS install and _then_ apply the 2.1.4 update? According to http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/X112.1.4 : " Download X11-2.1.4.pkg <http://xquartz.macosforge.org/downloads/X11-2.1.4.pkg>, and open it to install with Leopard's Installer. You will need to have Leopard's X11 package installed.
