No. I am by no means a digikam expert. It just works for me. But there is a whole big kde machinery around digikam that starts up when digikam runs, and perhaps one of the many wheels of that thing does not quite run as it should. I can try to look at the output you are getting and compare with what I am seeing, but I can't guarantee anything. Run digikam 2>&1 | tee /tmp/digikam.log and then, when digikam has finished, send me the resulting file /tmp/digikam.log. Or put it on some server if you can.
