On Tiger, your X11 distribution came with xedit, but this appears no 
longer to be the case on Leopard.  khexeditor probably wouldn't be what 
you want, since it's really designed to edit binary files.  Fink has a 
number of editor packages available, though.  Try "fink list -s editors"
