Hello, Glenn. On my OS X 10.5.8 box with Xquartz I get version 6.0.0
for /usr/X11/lib/libfontconfig.1.dylib (which has been installed by
Xquartz). I've confirmed with another user that Apple's X11 on OS X
10.6 installs /usr/X11/lib/libfontconfig.1.dylib with version 5.0.0,
an earlier version.

You'll probably need to rebuild gnuplot in order to fix that. I'm
assuming that Fink says "No packages to install" because gnuplot is
already installed on your system (/sw/bin/gnuplotx is there). Please run

fink rebuild gnuplot

to rebuild and reinstall gnuplot and tell us whether it solved this
issue.
