I tried to upgrade fink from Tiger to Snow Leopard and am not sure how to proceed. I followed the instructions on http://www.finkproject.org/ saying that one must bootstrap fink from the distribution tarball (version 0.29.9 or later). After unpacking the tarball I started the bootstrapping operation with ./bootstrap. At some point in the beginning it said however,
This version of fink supports bootstrapping under Mac OS X 10.6, as well as upgrading from 10.5. However, DIRECT UPGRADING FROM 10.4 OR EARLIER IS NOT SUPPORTED. I nevertheless continued with the effect that everything was installed into / sw2 instead of my old /sw I had from 10.4. Combining with /sw seemed to be impossible. Does this mean that I have to install all the packages I had in my old distribution from scratch ? Apart from this being tedious, all the binaries from fink packages that were installed under 10.4 are already working fine in 10.6. Or is there a way to upgrade ? I'm rather confused Thanks for your help esche ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
