Hi Esche, I think you might be mislead by the phrase,"... users upgrading directly from 10.4 or earlier..." which refers to upgrading your OS, not fink. There is no upgrade path for fink from 10.4 to 10.6. You will note in your output above that it does say that you cannot upgrade fink from 10.4 or earlier. You will want to rebuild your packages. There is some information on the blog (http://finkers.wordpress.com/) about "starting anew" (posted Aug 31) which you might find helpful.
