Hi,

I'm pretty sure I did nothing else.
Here is the list of commands which I gave in the Terminal (besides  
'less', 'ls', ... commands):
fink selfupdate
fink update-all
fink describe pgplot
fink install pgplot

pgplot -> which may be useless as pgplot can probably be called only  
from within a program?
nedit -> this was just to check if I have the same problem there,
  because yesterday I had installed nedit, which had opened from  
Terminal a Xwindow

thenonly after it didn't work I tried in the Terminal:
export DISPLAY=":0.0"
