I'm forwarding this on to the fink-beginners mailing list, in case someone there has an idea.

Have you run "fink selfupdate" after installing fink?

Thanks David,

I'm not trying to install any specific version. If I run the list in fink:

fink list

I receive the following list of 'x' programs:

p x11 [virtual package] p x11-dev [virtual package] p x11-shlibs [virtual package] i xcode 3.2-1 [virtual package representing the developer tools] p xfree86-base-threaded [virtual package] p xfree86-base-threaded-dev [virtual package] p xfree86-base-threaded-shlibs [virtual package] p xft1 [virtual package] p xft1-dev [virtual package] p xft1-shlibs [virtual package] p xft2 [virtual package] p xft2-dev [virtual package] p xft2-shlibs [virtual package] p xserver [virtual package]

I tried

fink list | grep xfig

but couldn't find anything related to xfig.

As such, when I run

fink install xfig

or

fink install xfig-3.2.4-4

I receive:

Information about 310 packages read in 0 seconds.
Failed: no package found for specification 'xfig'!

It seems that fink doesn't have xfig in any of its repository lists. I've reinstalled fink in 32bit and 64bit mode, and have set it look at all primary mirrors to make sure it has the full list.

Any other suggestions much appreciated. Thank you!

James.

You are trying to install that older version rather than the current version? "fink install xfig-3.2.4-4" should work.

Hello Mr. Morrison,

I got your e-mail address from the Fink page. I'm trying to install xfig 3.2.4-4 on Snow Leopard, but fink won't list xfig in the repository list. (Meaning, if I run fink list, it doesn't show, even after running fink update-all). I've tried setting up fink in 32 and 64-bit modes, but no success.

Do I have to explicitly tell fink where to find/download the xfig package? If so, how do I do that?

Thank you very much for your time. Very much appreciated.

James.
