That's probably not necessary.  You set up a 64-bit installation right
now and leave your 32-bit one intact--Fink doesn't _have_ to be in /sw,
especially when no binary distribution is being used.

To do that you'd want to edit your .profile and comment out the line
that says

test -r /sw/bin/init.sh && . /sw/bin/init.sh

to read

#test -r /sw/bin/init.sh && . /sw/bin/init.sh

(your setup may differ), then start a new terminal window and do a 64
bit bootstrap of Fink.

One other thing occurred to me.  What do you get from

        otool -L /sw/bin/xmgrace

?
