Ah. I'd forgotten that the unstable tree sequence in the FAQ called for an initial "fink selfupdate" and to use "fink index -f". And you're right; there's no harm done in repeating it. You just wind up taking more time for operations that don't do anything. "fink selfupdate" and "fink selfupdate-rsync" do the same thing once rsync updating is activated. And running "fink scanpackages" only needs to be done once, to set apt-get up to look in the unstable tree; after that it gets run automatically. - -- Alexander Hansen, Ph.D. Fink User Liaison http://finkakh.wordpress.com/ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (Darwin) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk2cXdkACgkQB8UpO3rKjQ+UcQCbBXOeoe5CdXXE8Q+oQO4vctQ/ io8Amwb2oLBZfAYYERy6QnEPAwEyD5iD =FdRf -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Xperia(TM) PLAY It's a major breakthrough.
