Normally, don't use "sudo" before "fink". > > [snip] > sent 287 bytes received 101886 bytes 15718.92 bytes/sec > total size is 11327083 speedup is 110.86 > Scanning package description files.......... > Information about 6225 packages read in 1 seconds. > The package 'fink' will be built and installed. > Reading build dependency for fink-0.34.4-71... > Reading dependency for fink-0.34.4-71... > Reading runtime dependency for fink-0.34.4-71... > Reading build conflict for fink-0.34.4-71... > The following package will be installed or updated: > fink > Setting runtime build-lock... > dpkg-deb -b /sw/src/fink.build/root-fink-buildlock-fink-0.34.4-71 > /sw/src/fink.build > ### execution of dpkg-deb failed, exit code 11 > Failed: can't create package fink-buildlock-fink-0.34.4-71 > [/snip] > > I've been unable to find out anything useful about 'exit code 11' and > researching errors pertaining to 'buildlock' hasn't produced useful > information for my case. Typically, buildlock issues are due to inconsistencies in the installed package database file ( /sw/var/lib/dpkg/status ), and the offending line of that gets reported (actually, what is reported is usually a little off of the real line). If such a thing is present in your output, then edit /sw/var/lib/dpkg/status as a superuser, go to the line your error mentions, and change the nearest (probably a buildlock-*) package's Status line from Status: purge ok installed to Status: purge ok not-installed Otherwise, we'll need to see more of your output. -- Alexander Hansen, Ph.D. Fink User Liaison My package updates: http://finkakh.wordpress.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Monitor your physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure from a single web console.
