Dear Alexander,

Thank you for the very quick reply, I really appreciate it. I tried
looking in the package database file, but failed to identify an entry that
matched the offending package indicated by the error. I will look again
more carefully for sure. A few questions:
 - Am I correct that the package database file keeps track of all packages
that have been installed completely/successfully? Under what circumstances
would a package entry read 'not-installed'?
 - is there harm (in general) in changing a package's listed status from
'installed' to 'not-installed'? Is it just the case that the package would
be overwritten? What I'm thinking is whether I can try changing any
package entries in the database file that might be suspect to the
'not-installed' status, or will this cause problems if I change the wrong
entry.
- in the event that I am unable to fix the problem going through the
package database file and changing the status entries, what output would be
helpful to see? I sent the last several printed lines of the output. Is
there something in particular I should look for to help?

Thanks again,
-Andy
