...and take advantage of the existing package dependency tree. Sounds 
like a pretty good idea. But I know that Max has a lot of work, and 
would probably not have time to think about supporting another OS in Fink...

But let's ask him: Max, what do you think about support for another OS 
(e.g. Solaris) in Fink?
sounds complicated?

If it is, we're probably going to, hum, duplicate the whole Fink system 
(with your permission) and set it up for Solaris.

That's where I'd need some help: can someone here give me documentation 
pointers to how the "fink server" is set up?
I think I understood it was just a Linux version of Fink running on a 
SourceForge shell box?
