This question cannot be answered but by very few people which have previous experience with installing/compiling unix programs. In addition to do think about unix programs which have been ported to the given platform (for example rpm installation on a RedHat system), or porting software yourself (for example source packages (rpms) to linuxppc)?
My answer having the former in mind would be 15-30 minutes (or better 0 minutes), while having the latter in mind would be more than 12 hours.
