It may not work when virtual packages are involved. I just did a test to see what would happen if I wanted to remove my xfree86 installation:
[ldx3:~] hansen% sudo apt-get remove --no-act xfree86-rootless-threaded Password: Reading Package Lists... Done Building Dependency Tree... Done You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these: Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies: glut-shlibs: Depends: libgl gnome-core-shlibs: Depends: gtkhtml but it is not going to be installed gnucash: Depends: gtkhtml but it is not going to be installed gtkglarea: Depends: libgl qt3-shlibs: Depends: libgl xforms-shlibs: Depends: libgl E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution). (the gtkhtml one is because of Evolution-1.2.1, so ignore it). On Mon, 2003-01-27 at 09:55, David R. Morrison wrote: > Hi.
