Depends how you define subsumed. The installed JDK does have... /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_21.jdk/Contents/Home/jre which wouldn't be a huge pain if they had created a symlink like... /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.jdk to point at the location of the currently installed JDK 1.7... /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_21.jdk such that the symlink would get updated when an updated JDK 1.7 was installed.
