What do you mean by "console-only"? The interface in the screenshots at

looks  pretty much like what you get on linux or any other Unix.

If you mean by console-only that it can only be run locally on the box 
you are logged in on and running the Finder, then I don't think you are 
right. It uses Xfree86 for its gui, so you can always forward the output 
to another machine. Unless, of course, they impose some fascist license 
manager that prevents this.
