fink installs python on 10.2 for a few reasons:
1) Apple shipped a python containing no libraries (they did the same
for ruby :/)
2) Even if 1) was not the case, it takes some time and effort to get
things working with new
apple supplied stuff, we haven't had the time yet.
The x11 dependency most likely comes from tcltk.
