No one's answered I think because it's been discussed on the list and on
#fink a number of times.

The answer is "no one knows", all of the fink maintainers' time had been
focused on getting a last 10.1-supported release out the door, and only
now is anyone taking a look at getting rid of obsolete packages in 10.2.

Justin Hallett has been doing some testing with a system-ncurses as far
as I'm aware, but I don't know what the consensus is.
