You need to install xfree86-rootless and xfree86-base--it looks like
only the -shlibs got installed during your upgrade. xfree86 just
recently had the -shlibs packages added, and there may be a few quirks.
Yeah, that looked like a red flag to me too, when FinkCommander did not indicate that they were installed.

Check and see whether /sw/fink/dists is a symlink to /sw/fink/10.2 .
Actually, check this before you install anything else.
Ah yes, it is the symlink you indicated, and I have:

/sw/fink/10.2/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/x11-system
which contains the following:

[dhcp-24:main/binary-darwin-powerpc/x11-system] mbovee% ls -la
total 94488
drwxr-xr-x 7 root admin 238 Nov 2 12:20 .
drwxr-xr-x 13 root admin 442 Nov 2 15:35 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 1920 Nov 2 12:20 system-xfree86_4.2-1_darwin-powerpc.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 1666042 Nov 2 04:03 xfree86-base-shlibs_4.2.1.1-1_darwin-powerpc.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 42508462 Nov 2 04:03 xfree86-base_4.2.1.1-1_darwin-powerpc.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 325372 Nov 2 04:04 xfree86-rootless-shlibs_4.2.1.1-1_darwin-powerpc.deb
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 3865744 Nov 2 04:04 xfree86-rootless_4.2.1.1-1_darwin-powerpc.deb

Should I go ahead and install the XFree86 packages that FinkCommander thinks is missing?
It looks like they are actually there according to what's in the above directory?

Also, to recover space is it okay to delete my /sw/fink.old directory and contents?
Is it inadvisable to delete the XFree archives indicated by FinkCommander?

thank You
--Michael
