I'm trying to create a package for bluefish 0.9, as the latest fink package is for 0.8, and 0.9 is supposed to have aspell support, which I would really like. I simply copied the info file for 0.8 to my local tree, and updated the version number and check sum references. It compiled fine, and runs OK, but I didn't get the hoped for built-in aspell support. Looking at the Terminal output for the compile process, I see:

checking aspell.h usability... yes
checking aspell.h presence... yes
checking for aspell.h... yes
checking for new_aspell_config in -laspell... no
libaspell not found please install libaspell-dev or similar

However, I do have libaspell:

[localhost:~] kwh% locate libaspell
/sw/lib/libaspell-common.a
/sw/lib/libaspell-common.la
/sw/lib/libaspell.a
/sw/lib/libaspell.la

I expected that the standard fink compile process would be enough to make new installs aware of all the fink installed libraries. I've looked at the Packaging Reference on the Fink web site, but I can't puzzle out what might be going wrong, as I'm a complete neophyte at compiling stuff. I've read all the documentation I can find in /sw/share, as well as the stuff that is in the bluefish tarball, but I can't find any mention of how to get aspell support.

Is aspell support something that a beginner like me can sort out, or do I need to just wait for the package to get updated?

Thanks,

Kevin Horton
