Yes, and when I release 1.8.2-2 it will work, in the meantime, please be a little patient :-)
There was a problem because the gettext included in gnucash is a newer version than fink's and doesn't detect the fink version. It builds it's own, but hasn't defined the macro HAVE_GETTEXT, so the source code doesn't know it is available.
I have been waiting for guile-1.6.3 before releasing the next rev on gnucash, but if it is still not ready this weekend then I will update anyway.
With the current version you have on your system, there is no way to enable the german translation, sorry.
