Thanks guys, the download was incomplete as Alex proposed. As it turns out, I am running 10.1, so with regards to David's suggestion of copying the 3.2.4-2 to /sw/src, how do I proceed after that?

Trying fink install transfig still causes it to try to fetch 3.2.3d7 from the remote server...
Not surprising. You need the source for the version you are trying to install. You install transfig-3.2.3d-7, you need transfig.3.2.3d.tar.gz.
