OK, I tried this on my work system (G3 dual processor,
software near identical to TiBook). This time I installed
mozilla-browser-xft2 and everything else it wanted (after a
couple of system-xfree86-43 tweaks).

Now I don't have the zillions of font errors...but I also
have no fonts, except Bitstream, 2 Couriers, 3 Luxis and
Utopia, none of which were selected when it first opened up.
(And it looks terrible, and the fonts don't resize well at
all.)

I only have FreeType2 and FreeType2-shlibs installed on this
system.

So I guess I'm still missing something crucial in how the
fonts are meant to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
