I'm trying to use mplayer to display some avis in fullscreen mode. Here is what happens:

If I try to start with the "-fs" switch, I get the following output:

--------
VO: [sdl] 512x384 => 512x384 Planar YV12  [fs]
SDL: Info - please use -vm or -zoom to switch to best resolution.
set_fullmode: SDL_SetVideoMode failed: Invalid width or height
SDL: failed to set video mode: Invalid width or height
FATAL: Cannot initialize video driver.
init_vo failed

FATAL: Could not initialize video filters (-vop) or video output (-vo).

Exiting... (End of file) --------

If I start playing in a window (which works fine) and then use the "f" key, the playback switches to full screen BUT there is only a briefly flickering picture. This used to work correctly but I'm not sure what is different now. I have tried adding "-vo sdl", "-ao sdl" but that makes no difference.

If I use one of the GUI-wrapped versions, I can play full screen correctly (I am not talking about just the frontend, but the GUI + precompiled version in the app bundle).

Is anyone else having problems with this?

-Chad
