I just installed Panther, and the latest fink. And the X11 from apple shipped with Panther.
Now, if I try to install something (like tetex or ghostscript or gnupg) fink asks for an xfree package, but the system-xfree86 is not available in the choice.
Trying to install the binaries via apt-get messed up the X11 installation completely as it just installed the xfree86 package without asking. The result: broken X11 and tetex not complete installed. I had to reinstall apples X11 package.
By the way, the fink list says for system-xfree86 this:
i system-xfree86 2:4.3-1 [placeholder for user installed x11]
is this : correct? Looks strange to me. Any solutions?
