SQLite3 is a more efficient, new version of SQLite. It is designed to co-exist peacefully with old SQLite, so I see no real reason why Fink shouldn't have it.

Umm...maybe because Fink is a volunteer project and nobody's had time to do it?


I recommend contacting Fink's package maintainer for sqlite and asking them to release the new version.
