Sorry, I failed to make it clear in this thread that I was using XFree86 (I
think it is clear in my post on the beginners list). I attempted to compile
Xorg. I get what I'm assuming is a standard message about what to do to
convert from Xfree86 to Xorg. By all appearances it looks like it might be
about as simple as changing my citizenship, although I did something similar
to get XFree86 to work with Apple's X11. My remaining question is "Will I
need to jump through the hoops you described in your posting about Gimp 2.0
sent Saturday, September 11, 2004 4:35 PM, or is it simpler with the version
of xorg that's now available?" I'll worry about the maintainer another time.
Right now I'm interested in any workaround that will let Gimp 2.2 launch.
