has to do with X11 (I'm using Apple's) since the issue was resolved
when
I installed XTools and started OOo from there. XTools however, was
really slow compared to Apple's X11.
Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

On a PB G4 1.67GHz (On my other machine with the exact same setup
everything works fine...).
