It means that you had XFree86 installed and then you overwrote it with
Apple's X11, which has totally confused your Fink installation.

To make Fink happy, you need to make it forget about XFree86:

The cleanest method is as follows:
1) Make sure you have a current X11User.pkg and X11SDK.pkg around.
2) run the following commands:

sudo dpkg --remove --force-depends xfree86 xfree86-shlibs
sudo rm -rf /Library/Receipts/X11User.pkg /Library/Receipts/X11SDK.pkg

3) Reinstall X11User.pkg and X11SDK.pkg.

Thanks Alex, It worked like a charm. I will let you know if any other problem crops up. In the mean time I got to know a little more about the fink and its working with the Apple X11.
