(From own painful experience, but with a different package):
If it still does not want to install texlive-texmf, then the only way 
out is to edit the dpkg database manually. You need to edit the file
/sw/var/lib/dpkg/status
and to remove the whole paragraph related to texlive-texmf, that is, the 
text starting from the line
Package: texlive-texmf
up to the blank line before the next "Package:" line.
In addition you have to delete all files with names starting with 
"texlive-texmf" in /sw/var/lib/dpkg/info/.

After that, "fink install texlive-texmf" should succeed, at least the 
"very bad inconsistent state" is no longer there.
