To each there own.  Some of us like to work together to keep things no-cost and 
working.  Note I did not say free; Alexander and many others are putting their 
time in, and we all benefit.   And we contribute by helping debug problems so 
the maintainers have an easier job, and other users a better experience.

You made a hash of your install (MacPorts/Xquartz/fink is a toxic mix).   I 
understand if you would rather pay for software and support, instead of working 
through the problem to everyone's benefit.  That is ok.  Send an e-mail that 
says "you guys suck because this software should be free and just work without 
me having to do anything", that is not ok.

PS makes you wonder why paid for software is better than open source free 
one... the former almost always works straight out of the box...
