Jon, Is Charles getting the right results (fipy has the right face ordering), but Mayavi is just spitting out
strange output (mayavi has the wrong face ordering)?

I don't know.

Either way, I think we might want to get together
and fix fipy to work with gmsh 2.

Definitely.

I assume the ordering is correct as far as the solver goes :-)

I'm not sure I'd jump to that conclusion. ;^)

How can the patterns in https://www.matforge.org/fipy/attachment/ wiki/SurfaceOfSphere/sphere_face.png be so reasonable? Surely the results would be nonsense? The blue and red patches (other than the black faces) seem to be about right.

Charless can confirm, but I don't think that's the result of a simulation. That's just the same x*y*z initial condition that I used in the demo. The cell centers are located where they're located, so that would come out right, but if the face-vertex ordering or face orientation is botched (it appears to be), then I can't see how the solutions would be right.
