a couple more questions on this if I may...
1. what's the difference between ">" and ">>" in the cat command?
2. the cat command doesn't put anything in between the files (not
surprisingly) but this means that the last line of each file and the first
line of the next file will come together onto one line in the output. Is
there any way around this such that the output contains a return (or even
anything else I can search on) between files from the input?
