Newspaper story this morning said that thousands of people had to wait for
hours in the rain yesterday before being admitted to the domed stadium,
which is being used as a shelter. The main reason for the delay was a
thorough search for weapons, drugs, etc.

In general, it's hard to see how showing up for government-supplied
emergency mass shelter constitutes reasonable grounds for conducting a
search.

More specifically, though, the Louisiana page at www.packing.org does not
list sports facilities as one of the places off-limits to pistol carry
permit holders.

Is there any specific statutory authority under which the state (or city)
would be able to justify first searching and then disarming a permitted
person who attempted to carry a pistol into the stadium?
